Comparative Religion Project

Objective: Shown a presentation covering the 5 main world religions,  students will be able to identify various unique attributes the the worlds main religions and define their differences in a comparative list.

Rationale: Religion effects many aspects of public life. Governmental policies, daily practices, feelings of right and wrong, societal roles for men, women, children, etc, many times have a connection to a particular faith. Understanding the various belief system around the world will help students understand the actions taken by people of other countries as well as inside the USA.

Evidence: By comparing the various foundations, tenets, and beliefs, students will begin to identify the characteristics of a faith and the reasons behind those actions.

Comparative Religion Project

Objective: Provided a list of resources (both presented by the instructor as well as through student initiated research) students will be able to identify various aspects of an assigned religion and compare the attributes of their assigned religion to the 6 other major religions (or the divisions within)  in a written report as well as a student led informational presentation.

Rationale: Religion effects many aspects of public life. Governmental policies, daily practices, feelings of right and wrong, societal roles for men, women, children, etc, many times have a connection to a particular faith. Rationale: Students need to gain a better understanding of events occurring around the world and where those places are located.

Evidence: By summarizing a story and plotting it on a map, students will show evidence of a global perspective on events affecting the world beyond their immediate surrounding.

Tuesday & Wednesday April 21st & 22nd Days 66 & 67

Africa Test Day

Today we will start the class by playing the Kahoot Africa Review game. Once finished we will take the test. When students finish the test, they should continue to work on updating their current event plotting locations on their maps as well as the spreadsheet portion of plotting current events. In addition, they should make sure their assignment sheets are up to date as they will be turned-in on Thursday/Friday

Objective: Provided  a Kahoot Game review for Africa, students will be able to identify through the Kahoot Game, various political and physical places and features of Africa.

Rationale: Its always good to play review games prior to a test to see what you know and what you still need to study.

Evidence: By playing the game students will see a preview of the test and will be able to confirm the stuff they know and see where they fall short

Review the Industrial Revo short video and the questions that you answered.
Also review the Berlin Conf video we watched and the questions you answered.
Lastly, review the powerpoint we went over that was used to identify and color in the Africa Colonization map.

Objective: Provided the theatrical movie of the Rwanda Genocide "Hotel Rwanda" students will be able to identify the various events which led to the genocide which occurred in Rwanda, as well as understand the individual actions that characters played in the real events.

Rationale: Hollywood does a good job of creating visuals that encapsulate confusing and detailed events. This movie explains the main details in a way that is easy to understand and creates and opportunity for discussion after the film.

Evidence: By understanding the conflict in Rwanda, students can participate in a conversation which debates the merits of both sides of the cause of the genocide.

Rwanda Genocide

Objective: Provided background information regarding the Rwanda conflict students will be able to gather information in a scavenger hunt process to piece together the events which led to one of the worst genocides in modern day.

Rationale: Understanding the effects of Colonialism on the native tribes within Africa, will allow students to view the effects of one countries actions on two seemingly peaceful tribes that existed in the country for some time.

Evidence: By understanding the conflict that Imperialism can cause, students will be able to articulate the effects of one countries ambition on the native people of the land they occupy.
